Uganda Police Arrested Two over ’dead’ Museveni Picture

KAMPALA. Police in Kampala are holding two men for allegedly circulating on social media a picture depicting a ‘dead’ President Yoweri Museveni.

Police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga said the suspects are being detained and interrogated at the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in Kireka and warned the public against misuse of cyber space.

“We have arrested two men who have been circulating pictures claiming that President Museveni is dead on social media. We want them to explain their motive,” Mr Enanga said while addressing the media at police headquarters on Monday.

According to Mr Enanga, the picture showed Mr Museveni’s body being wrapped in a white cloth. He added the act was demeaning the person of the President and the nation.

“We shall charge them with abuse of social media when investigations are complete. We also warn those who are planning to engage in the same that the police will crack down on them,” Mr Enanga.

He also identified the suspects as Henry Mutyaba and Robert Darius Tweyambe all residents of Kampala.
