Spokesperson for the Nigeria Army in charge of Division 1, Col Usman Abdul, said in a statement to the media that Col. Samaila Inusa was kidnapped at Kamazo Chikkun area of the state around 7:30 p.m. local time Saturday.

Inusa, who was said to be serving with the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, near Kaduna State, was in the company of his wife when the kidnapping occurred.

The military spokesperson said gunmen dropped off Inusa’s wife, and left with him in his car and headed toward Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

No group has by far claimed responsibility for the abduction of the senior military officer or place a ransom on him.

The abduction came barely a week when three clerics were abducted along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.

In his Easter message to the nation on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari said his administration was determined to achieve peace and security across the nation by ending the avoidable conflicts and crises that hindered national progress.

The Nigerian leader added that already the nation’s security apparatus were being reformed and empowered to win the war against terrorism and other criminal activities across the country.
