Uganda: Police on Tuesday morning swung into action, apprehending FDC’s and main Uganda’s opposition strongman Col Dr Kizza Besigye.

Besigye in a confrontation with police at Nagalama police station in Kampala on Tuesday.

The former presidential candidate Besigye who left his home at around 9:00am to Kampala and had earlier indicated how he wanted to join other FDC members for prayers at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Kampala.

Along the way, groups of FDC supporters were all over the city and where others started following him in a big convoy cheered by boda-boada riders and have been believed to have put traffic to a stand still.

At Kalerwe roundabout, police started dispersing some of the supporters before allowing Besigye to continue to the city.

There was another stalemate at Mulago roundabout as police led by CPS DPC Aron Baguma blocked Besigye’s vehicle.
