State House: A UPDF soldier attached to Special Forces Command [SFC] has been struck dead by lightning and others are nursing wounds.

Uganda’s State House.

This happened just hours after the FDC’s Pastor Happy Ngabo and other FDC Officials were arrested by police as they were heading to FDC Headquarters for their every Tuesday prayers as it has always been done country wide.

The government has been against FDC prayers after it was announced by court last week that the must stop but FDC’s flag bearer Col Kizza Besigye and pastor Ngabo insisted that they must go on with their prayers.

According to Presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

Nabusayi said the incident occurred Tuesday morning at one of the outposts at State House Entebbe.

“It is true. One of the soldiers was killed instantly while two others were injured,” Nabusayi said.

She said the injured soldiers were rushed to Entebbe hospital for treatment.
Nabusayi did not disclose the names of the dead and injured soldiers respectively.

But according to Maj. Chris Magezi, the Special Forces spokesperson.

Without revealing the identity of the officers, Magezi confirmed one officer died on spot. “We have to inform his family first,” he said.

The deceased was reportedly struck as he was talking on phone while standing during the Tuesday morning downpour.

However, Uganda continues to be under tension ahead of Museveni’s swearing in slated for 12th May after FDC announced country wide demonstrations.
