Zambia Defence Attaché to Rwanda Presents Letter of Credentials to Hon Minister of Defence

The newly appointed Zambia Defence Attaché (DA) to Rwanda, Brig Gen G Chibangu Tuba presented her letter of credentials to Hon Minister of Defence, Gen James Kabarebe.


The ceremony was held at RDF Headquarters, Kimihurura, on 3 May 2016 in the presence of the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Patrick Nyamvumba as well as other generals and senior officers.

Minister Kabarebe warmly welcomed Gen Chibangu as the new Zambian DA to Rwanda. He also praised and appreciated the long lasting defence cooperation between the two countries, especially in areas of training, which has contributed significantly in capacity building of RDF. “We never take that support for granted”, Gen Kabarebe underscored.

To ciment further the friendship between our two countries, Hon Minister Kabarebe expressed the wish that the existing Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Defence should be revised and expanded to other areas of cooperation that should be agreed upon.

The DA Brig Gen Chibangu thanked Hon Minister of Defence, Gen Kabarebe for the warm welcome she was accorded since her arrival in Rwanda. She furthermore conveyed warm greetings from the Zambian Minister of Defence, praising the good relationship and continued military cooperation between the two sister countries.

The DA said that Zambia wishes also to expand the existing cooperation to other areas, and that her country would wish in particular to learn from Rwanda’s experience in Peacekeeping operations.

After meeting the Minister of Defence, the DA paid a courtesy call on the Air Force Chief of Staff, Brig Gen Charles Karamba.

The two officials discussed prospective areas of cooperation in Air Force related matters.

Rwanda and Zambia maintain a good relationship in defence where, omong others, the the two countries exchange regularly students in their respective Senior Command and Staff Colleges.
