Ronaldo breaks silence over his future

Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has ended speculation regarding his future with Real Madrid. The 32-year-old said that he will stay at the club as he looks to win more titles with his team.

On Tuesday, Ronaldo told Marca: “To win important trophies with my club and the personal honours last season was brilliant; to do it again would be nice.”

According to AFP, earlier in the week, Real coach Zinedine Zidane said: “There has been a lot of talk surrounding Cristiano, that he wanted to go.

“He’s on holiday and he will be back with us on the fifth [of August]… and I think he’ll stay for the next 2 or 3 years he’s got left with us.”

It is reported that Ronaldo’s anger was driven by how he had been treated in Spain regarding tax evasions.

Forbes magazine adds that Ronaldo is the highest paid athlete in the world with $93 million divided between his football salary and endorsement income in 2016-2017. He is also a four-time Ballon d’Or winner.
