Manchester United fans hid in Old Trafford toilet overnight in bid to watch Arsenal game

Manchester United‘s stadium security has come under scrutiny again after two ticketless fans slept inside Old Trafford overnight to watch the Arsenal game, according to reports.

The pair took part in an official stadium tour on Friday before hiding in the toilets instead of leaving the ground with the rest of the group and were spotted on Saturday morning before the 1-1 clash with the Gunners.

United have launched an internal investigation into what happened, with the club’s security handled by external company Controlled Event Solutions, and though the police were called after the pair were seen no arrests were made.

A club spokesman told reporters: “We realise people will go to any lengths to watch a game at Old Trafford but these people went too far. The fact that they and their belongings had been searched before entry means we are confident there was no risk to safety.”

The latest incident comes after a bomb scare at the venue ahead of their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on the final day of last season when a suspected bomb was discovered in the toilets, but was later found to be a dummy device left in a training exercise.
