Jose Mourinho blames one Manchester United player after Watford defeat

Jose Mourinho doesn’t tend to react well to a run of defeats, as we all witnessed at Chelsea.

The Portuguese coach, in the weeks before he was sacked by the Blues last season, wasn’t afraid to dig out his players in televised interviews and press conferences if he felt the defeat had reflected badly on him.

But just a couple of months into his Manchester United tenure and the 53-year-old is already aiming fire at specific players in public.

Following the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City earlier this month, Mourinho - without naming names - effectively blamed him players for the loss.

"One or two players were below that level and the team paid for it,” he told reporters, per Goal, after the match. "Honestly, I have two or three players in the first half who, if the game is now and I know what is going to happen, I don’t play them, but this is football and sometimes players disappoint managers and sometimes players give us great surprises.”
