INDOMITABLE LIONS TO FACE WORLD CHAMPS IN CONFEDERATIONS CUP

Cameroon’s triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations means they will represent the continent at the 2017 Confederations Cup.

The Indomitable Lions returned to the summit of the continent’s football with a 2-1 win over Egypt in the 2017 AFCON final in Libreville last night.

This not only saw them claim a fifth AFCON crown, but also secured qualification for the Confederations Cup in Russia later this year.

The West Africans will play in Group B of the FIFA tournament and open their campaign with a clash against South American champions Chile in Moscow on June 18.

They will follow that up with matches against Asian representatives Australia in St Petersburg on June 22 and world champions Germany in Sochi on June 25.

Group A is made up of hosts Russia, reigning Oceania champions New Zealand, Euro 2016 title winners Portugal and North American representatives Mexico.

The tournament runs from June 17 to July 2 and serves as a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the World Cup in 2018.
