Europa league hero admits he could leave during transfer window

According to reports from The Liverpool Echo, Kolo Toure has admitted his future at Liverpool remains in doubt.

The former Ivory Coast international has gone on to make 71 appearances across all competitions since arriving from Manchester City on a free transfer in summer 2013.

And despite some costly errors during his debut campaign, Toure has by no means disgraced himself for a 35-year-old centre-back losing his legs.

In fact, the former Arsenal star was one of the few standout performers as Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

He produced a stunning last-ditch tackle inside the box to stop a Kevin Gamero brace, alongside three interceptions, five successful aerial duels and a rather incredible 17 clearances.

However, that has not been enough to guarantee Toure another season at Anfield, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the campaign.

The veteran centre-half is eager to stay on Merseyside but has revealed the club are yet to open a dialogue over extending his deal

Toure told The Liverpool Echo; “I don’t know (about my future) to be honest. We will see what will happen and you will have to ask that question to the manager.”

“Of course I want to stay. It’s a great club to play in, but the manager has his plan and any decision I will respect. He is a top manager and he knows what he is doing.

“I am just enjoying my time in this club – a fantastic club and fantastic supporters.”
