Arsenal land nightmare Bayern Munich draw in Champions League last 16

The UEFA Champions League last-16 draw has today been announced, with Arsenal facing a tough clash with Bayern Munich and Manchester City taking on Monaco.

Arsenal finished top of their group on the final matchday last week, after thrashing Basel 4-1 at St.Jakobs Park and also being handed a favour by Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets.

The latter held Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes, allowing Arsenal for the first time in five years to finish top of their group.

However, Arsene Wenger was wary after that game in Switzerland, admitting that the quality of runners-up across other groups meant Arsenal had a good chance of facing a top team – which has proven to be the case.

However, Wenger will probably be licking his lips at the fact that the group runners-up, Paris Saint-Germain, have landed Spanish giants Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Manchester City – who finished second to Barcelona in their group – have been handed a game against French giants, and an in-form, Monaco.

Leicester City, who were thrashed by Porto in their final group game but still finished top, have been tasked with a game against Spanish heavyweights Sevilla, who won the Europa League last season.

The full UEFA Champions League last-16 draw is as follows:

Manchester City (ENG) vs. AS Monaco FC (FRA)
