Sakala set for Kigali swansong

Striker Fashion Sakala has disclosed that his final game in Zanaco colours will be this weekend, in their 2017 Caf Champions League away game against APR in Rwanda.

Sakala has just clinched a permanent move from Zanaco to Russian club Spartak Moscow.

The Zambia Under-20 striker played his penultimate match for Zanaco on 11 February against APR in a 0-0 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Sakala joins seven other players to leave Zanaco in the 2017 pre-season, including veteran midfielder Isaac Chansa and Roderick Kabwe, who left for Iraq and South Africa respectively.

“My last game is in Rwanda,” Sakala said.

“Players that left are great players, but no one is bigger than the team. I am leaving when many players have already left, but it is another opportunity for me. Going to Europe is not easy.

“I have a very big dream; Moscow is just the way for me, I have Chelsea and Real Madrid in my future.”

Meanwhile, Sakala believes that Zanaco’s 0-0 preliminary stage home draw in the first leg is not a setback and that they can secure their first round qualification in Kigali.

“I am very sure that as we will be going to Rwanda we can win. It is possible,” Sakala said.

“The 0-0 is not something we can be disappointed with, but we have to look forward to the next game.”

Meanwhile, before heading on his new adventure to Russia, Sakala is expected to lead the Zambia U20 attack, as hosts of the 2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations that the country will stage from 26 February to 12 March.
