Rwanda striker back for Nations Cup tie

Ernest Sugira has arrived in Rwanda after a busy weekend’s travel in the Champions League, to feature for his country in their African Nations Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic, officials said.

The AS Vita Club striker is the last player to join the 19-man squad for the Group H qualifier away in Bangui on Sunday.

He had been with the Congolese club in Ethiopia on Saturday for the African Champions League tie against St George, where Vita Club continued their losing run in the group phase.

Rwanda coach Antoine Hey will drop one player on Thursday before they head off to the Central African Republic.

“We have 19 players in camp but we will travel with 18. That means we shall drop one player, so it’s upon those in camp to work hard to be in the final team,” the German-born coach announced.

Rwanda are also drawn in Group H with the Ivory Coast and Guinea.
