Police Handball Club Maintains its Winning Ways

Police Handball Club has continued to enjoy their winning start of the season with a 49-28 win over Nyakabanda on Day Seven of the National Handball Championship played on Sunday at Kimisagara Youth Centre.

The reigning national league and East and Central Africa Handball Federation Cup champions scored 20 goals in the first half against 14 for Nyakabanda, before scoring more 29 others in the second half.

With 21 maximum points scoring 146 goals, and with only two games left to the end of the first round, the prediction remains that this can be a repeat of last season which they ended unbeaten.

Captain Gilbert Mutuyimana and Gilbert Nzibonera score 16 and 9 goals each to ensure that police continues its campaign for the fourth successive league cup and the fifth in six seasons. On Day Six last week, Police also beat Rubavu 47-30.

“We have support from Rwanda National Police and the club management and players have a winning spirit. We are focused and we aim for wins only,” police coach, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana, said shortly after the match.

Police Handball Club’s remaining two matches of the first round campaign will be against second placed, APR and ES Kigoma.
