Ernest Sugira talks about injury and wishes Amavubi success against Uganda Cranes

Ernest Sugira is cool, calm and collected despite his horric injury during training at the Stade Kigali on Tuesday just days after being recalled by coach Antoine Hey to boast the striking force after Rwanda Amavubi went down 3-0 to Uganda Cranes in the first leg of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Sugira speaking from his hospital bed urged his team mates to work hard and get a win in the second leg which is a do or die for them.He also hoped his surgery would be successful on Thursday.

“I was saddened by the injury I got just days after being recalled back to the national team but as a footballer those are things that happen suddenly. It was an accident on the pitch and not intentional at all”

“The doctors have told me I will be out between four and five months but all that will be determined by the surgery to be conducted today (Thursday) and I just hope that it goes well. Its always a hard moment for any footballer to get such an injury but I belive I will heal and will be back to playing the game”

“I want to urge my team mates to give 100 percent against Uganda as nothing is impossible in football I wish them success in the game over the weekend”Ernest Sugira

Sugira was one of the best players in the 2016 CHAN hosted by Rwanda earning rave reviews that ensured he moved to DR Congo side AS Vita in 2016 however things did not go as planned forcing him back home where he signed with APR.

His injury is a blow to Amavubi hopes of qualifying for 2018 CHAN as they are required to score 4 goals to proceed a fete that is likely to be difficult playing against a refined side like Uganda Cranes.
