Paul Scholes Mentions three Players he wants Manchester United to Sign

Paul Scholes’ comments on Manchester United have been well documented over the past few months.

The Red Devils legend, who retired (for the second time) alongside Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013, has hit out at the under-performing side time and time again throughout the course of the campaign.

Under Louis van Gaal’s regime, the Red Devils have failed to come to prominence and appear to be a shadow of their former selves.

As it stands, United are on the verge of missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League - they currently sit in sixth place in England’s elite division so it’s not entirely surprising that Scholes and co. have criticised them on several occasions.

United fans, then, may well be interested in Scholes’ latest comments. On this occasion, however, the club’s former midfielder has selected the three players he wants his former club to sign.

A huge sum has been spent by the Old Trafford hierarchy over the past couple of seasons, but it appears that a great deal of work is still required in the upcoming transfer window.

Scholes has suggested that the club should move for the Real Madrid duo of Luka Modric and Raphael Varane, while he also believes that they should attempt to re-sign France international Paul Pogba.

The ex-United man maintains his former side are in need of a new striker but acknowledges that there are a lack of centre-forwards available right now.

“I’d like Luka Modric. How old is he now? Might be a bit too old, but he’s a great player,” Scholes told United We Stand fanzine, as per Goal.com.

“I like Raphael Varane. I said realistic and I’m picking Real Madrid players?

“We probably need a centre-forward but there’s not too many of them about so I’m gonna say I’d like us to bring Paul Pogba back.”

United fans will be well aware that signing any of the aforementioned trio won’t be easy at this stage, but all three players would certainly represent fine coups for the club in pursuit of redemption.

United just haven’t been able to get it right in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. A number of high-profile players have been captured, but they haven’t hit the required level.

The club can’t afford to get it wrong again this summer; as they appear to be in decline, it most definitely won’t be easy for them to attract the best players, but they still have the financial muscle to compete with the best teams in the world.
