Kasese: Police Detains a Pastor over Rape Charges

A Ugandan pastor has been arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 19 year old girl.

The suspect attached to Ebenezer Ministries in Bugoye Sub County was arrested by police at Jeriza lodge in Kasese town with the girl few months after he was released from prison over defilement.

According to Joseph Andama, the Officer in charge CIID of Kasese Municipal police division the suspect (name withheld) was released on police bond as investigations into the matter continues.

Andama said the suspect had just been released from Mubuku where he was convicted on defilement charges.

He also noted that the complainant claimed that she was infected by HIV/AIDS but on testing, the girl was positive and the man was negative.

However, upon arrest, the pastor argued that the 19 year old was his fiancée.

But the OC says the pastor’s case file has been forwarded to the Resident State attorney for legal advice as the complainant now wants the suspect to construct for her a house and give her business as pre conditions to out of court settlement.

While at police, the girl said she had had sex with the pastor several occasions on grounds that the ‘good’ pastor would help her secure a senior six certificate from Ebenezer SS in Bugoye where she sat her exams.

The pastor owned the school which was considered as an orphanage.
