World’s Highest Paid Dj With $63m Earnings

Calvin Harris the 32-year-old Scotsman has been hitting headlines more because of his breakup with Taylor Swift than his music in recent months.

But financial magazine FORBES has revealed that behind the scenes, Calvin was steadily banking DJ gigs, so much so that he retained his title as the world’s highest paid DJ for the fourth consecutive year. The Scottish DJ gets paid more than $400,000 (£307,000) per Vegas gig.

Despite his impressive pay packet, Calvin’s earnings are down slightly from the previous year (14), which saw him bring home $66 million (£50.7 million). They are also significantly less than the earnings of his ex Taylor, who took home $80 million (£61 million) between June 2014 and June 2015.

Dutch DJ Tiesto comes in second place with earnings of $38 million (£29 million), while Frenchman David Guetta rounds out the top three, having brought home $28 million (£21 million) from DJing in 2015.

FORBES uses solely the musician’s DJ income to calculate their list, with Zedd, who formerly enjoyed a romance with Selena Gomez, the highest climber in the top ten list. Zedd, 26, is now in fourth position, with earnings of $24.5 million (£18.8 million).

The full FORBES’ 2016 Electronic Cash Kings list is as follows:

1. Calvin Harris - $63 million

3. David Guetta - $28 million

4. Zedd - $24.5 million
