Koffi Olomide released from jail

Embattled Congolese musician Koffi Olomide has been released from jail, barely two days after he was arrested in Congo.

Unconfirmed reports said the musician offered an apology to his Kenyan fans after he was released on Thursday through his promoter Jules Nsana.

Koffi who was arrested on Tuesday and sentenced for 18 months for assaulting a female dancer while in Kenya for a show that was cancelled after after a video of him assaulting one of his dancers went viral.

The Rhumba maestro was arrested outside Royal Media Services offices on Friday evening and taken to JKIA police station where he spent the night in police cells.

On Saturday he was then deported to Kinshasa, DRC by Kenya Airways after he apologised to his fans and women over the matter.

Olomide was taken into custody in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday, July 26th, days after he was deported assaulting one of his dancers, identified as Pamela, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Koffi asked fans for support following his arrest after he was sentenced to a year in jail for the offence.
