“Better late than never,” Museveni Writes to Queen Elizabeth 11 on 90th Birthday

Uganda president Yoweri Museveni has sent a message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Head of the Commonwealth on her 90th Birthday.

The queen marked 90 years on Thursday April 21, 2016.

Here is the message:

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Uganda and on my own behalf, I wish to extend to Her Majesty, members of the Royal family and the people of the United Kingdom warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.

Her majesty is a pillar of strength, inspiration and unity not only for the people of Britain but for the Commonwealth and the world as a whole.

Uganda appreciates Her Majesty’s effort in championing Commonwealth values including democracy, protection of human rights, poverty eradication, women empowerment, social development and environment protection.

I take this opportunity to reiterate my personal commitment and that of the government of the Republic of Uganda to with working with Her Majesty and Her majesty’s Government in strengthening further close and historic relations that exist between our two peoples.

The Government and the People of the Republic of Uganda extend best wishes to Her Majesty and members of the Royal family for many years of continued success, prosperity and for the continued cordial relations between our two countries.


However, the Queen met with Uganda’s president at a meeting of Commonwealth leaders in Malta back in November of 2015.
