Ugandan AMISOM contingent receives Bastion APCs

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) announced on 25 September that its Ugandan contingent had received 19 new combat vehicles from the United States and released photographs showing ACMAT Bastion armoured personnel carriers (APCs) branded as Mack products.

The handover came exactly two years after the US Department of Defense announced it had awarded a USD25 million contract to Mack Defense to deliver 62 APCs for Cameroon, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tunisia, and Uganda.

Mack Defense told Jane’s at the time that the vehicles would be Bastion APCs: a product developed by France’s ACMAT. Both companies are part of the Volvo Group.
