He however warned that he will not visit these countries during the rainy season and asked that the concerned persons confirm seasons with favorable weather conditions. During an interview with AFP News agency, the Pope was asked which countries he planned on visiting in the course of 2015 and he had this to say:

"I will respond hypothetically. The plan is to go to the Central African Republic and Uganda, these two, this year. I think that this will be towards the end of the year, because of the weather, no? They have to calculate when there won’t be rains, when there won’t be bad weather. This trip is a bit overdue, because there was the Ebola problem. It is a big responsibility to hold big gatherings, contagion, no? But in these countries there is no problem. These two are hypothetical, but it will be this year."

Late last year, President Museveni and a delegation of Ugandan Catholics visited the Pontiff in Rome in a bid to convince him into visiting the banana republic, though the biggest part had been done by the Catholic church in the country.

Preparations to host him are in high gear, as the church renovates Namugongo Catholic shrines where the highly anticipated Mass will take place.
