Ivanka Trump has been hired as as assistant to the President

She got the office in the West Wing last week, and now she’s getting the title to go with it.

Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump and one of his closest advisers, said Wednesday that she will become a federal employee, holding the title of special assistant to the president. That’s a change from just last week, when she said she would serve as only an "informal adviser" to her dad. Ethics experts, however, said that shadow role could allow her to skirt certain rules.

“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules," Ivanka Trump said in a statement. "I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees."

President Trump will surely feel quite at home in the West Wing: Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, is the president’s senior adviser.
