EgyptAir flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo crashes

Cairo: EgyptAir flight number MS804 carrying 66 people from Paris to Cairo crashed on Thursday morning, Egyptian aviation officials said.

The ill-fated flight was lost from the radar at 2:45 am local time flying at 37,000 feet, the airline had confirmed. It said the Airbus A320 had vanished 10 miles after it entered Egyptian airspace over the Mediterranean Sea.

EgyptAir had confirmed the nationalities of the passengers too. Those on board included 15 French passengers, 30 Egyptians, one Briton, two Iraqis, one Kuwaiti, one Saudi, one Sudanese, one Chadian, one Portuguese, one Belgian, one Algerian and one Canadian.

EgyptAir had contacted the concerned authorities and bodies and for inspection through the rescue teams soon after the flight disappeared from the radar.

Tracking services showed the plane disappearing from radar over the Mediterranean Sea close to its destination.

Maps showed the flight heading out from Charles de Gaulle before vanishing in the Mediterranean during its approach to Egypt.
