Man Dies After Drinking Pesticides to Protest for Cow’s Rights

An activist died and others were critically injured condition after drinking pesticides to protest for cows rights.

Hindus go on streets protesting over increased cow slaughter.

Eight Hindu cows’ rights activists drank pesticides as part of a protest in India, asking the animals to be given greater protection.

The protesters were demonstrating against what they said is the ongoing slaughter of cows. One of the activists, 40-year-old Gabhru Bharwad, died after consuming the pesticides.

Police do not believe the man intended to kill himself. About 27 members of the same group also tried to block roads.

Hindus have too much love for their cows.

The eight demonstrators who drank pesticides, were protesting outside a government office in Gujarat.

They were protesting what they consider the ongoing slaughter of cows despite a general ban on killing animals.

"Cows also deserve their rights," Hindu people claim.

"These men came with bottles of a poisonous substance and consumed a small portion of it in front of the government office," Manish Nakum, a police inspector investigating the case, said.

All were taken to a hospital, but Bharwad died during treatment. Four other protesters, between 20 and 30 years old, were in critical condition, police said.
